Employer-Sponsored Visas (SC 482, SC494 or SC186)

Employer-Sponsored Visas (SC 482, SC494 or SC186)

The Regional employer sponsored visas allow Australian employers to hire skilled international workers. These visas help serve the employer’s business needs as well as allow the skilled labourer of a foreign country to gain employment options where their skills are most needed.

Subclass 482

The Subclass 482 visa, commonly known as the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, is an Australian work visa designed to address temporary skill shortages by allowing employers to sponsor skilled workers from overseas. This visa has three streams: the Short-Term stream, which permits stays of up to two years; the Medium-Term stream, with stays of up to four years; and the Labour Agreement stream, catering to businesses with a formalized labor agreement with the Australian government. The SC482 visa requires the employer to demonstrate a genuine need for the nominated position and a commitment to training and employing local workers. It provides a pathway for skilled workers to contribute to the Australian workforce for a specified period, fulfilling critical roles and supporting the nation’s economic growth.

Subclass 494

The Subclass 494 visa, known as the Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa, is an Australian visa designed to address skilled labor shortages in regional areas. It allows employers in designated regional areas to sponsor skilled workers from overseas for a period of up to five years. The SC494 visa replaced the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS). One of its significant features is the pathway it provides to permanent residency through the Subclass 191 (Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional)) visa. This visa not only benefits employers in regional areas by filling critical skill gaps but also offers skilled workers an opportunity to contribute to and settle in regional communities.

Subclass 186

The Subclass 186 visa, also known as the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa, is a pathway to permanent residency in Australia for skilled workers nominated by their employers. Divided into three streams, the visa includes the Direct Entry stream, the Temporary Residence Transition stream for those already on a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, and the Agreement stream for those with a formalized labor agreement. The SC186 visa, similar to an employer sponsored visa for Melbourne, enables employers to address long-term skill needs by sponsoring skilled workers permanently, contributing to the growth and stability of the Australian workforce.
